Description	:	Lois Irene Belitz , 78, of Seward, formerly of Fullerton, died Wednesday, June 9, 2010, at Heartland Park Assisted Living in Seward. Irene was born May 29, 1932, in Genoa to Dale and Anna Agnes (Rolf) McAfee. She married Elmer Belitz on Aug. 15, 1955, in Fullerton. He preceded her in death on May 22, 2009. Survivors of the immediate family include five children, Marla Belitz Johnson of Seward, Charlotte (Dan) Worley of Battle Creek, Linda (Roger) Rotschafer of Friend, Annette Belitz Harmon of Lincoln and Lynn (Tracy) Belitz of Fullerton; a sister, Pauline (Maylon) LeMasters of Riverside, Calif.; 11 grandchildren... Irene was born May 29, 1932, in Genoa to Dale and Anna Agnes (Rolf) McAfee. She married Elmer Belitz on Aug. 15, 1955, in Fullerton. He preceded her in death on May 22, 2009. Survivors of the immediate family include five children, Marla Belitz Johnson of Seward, Charlotte (Dan) Worley of Battle Creek, Linda (Roger) Rotschafer of Friend, Annette Belitz Harmon of Lincoln and Lynn (Tracy) Belitz of Fullerton; a sister, Pauline (Maylon) LeMasters of Riverside, Calif.; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She attended District 17 country school and Belgrade High School, graduating in 1949. After high school, she attended Kearney State Teachers College in Kearney, earning a two-year teaching degree. She taught for one year at Fairview School District 31, three miles east of Belgrade, where she had six students in grades K-8. At that time she roomed and boarded with Carl Zipf family. She then taught K-8 at District 17, and roomed and boarded with Glen McAfee for one year. Then she taught at District 46 west of Belgrade, where she had 15 students in K-8 for three years. She continued to take night classes at Kearney State Teachers College, but she was short 16 hours of earning a baccalaureate degree. After their marriage, Lois and Elmer lived and farmed in Boone County, then moved to their own farm north of Fullerton. She took Lutheran instruction from the Rev. Leimer, and was confirmed in the Lutheran Church in March of 1956. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids; a former member of Mount Calvary Lutheran's Ladies Aid and Plum Creek Women's Club. She taught Sunday school for 22 years at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in Fullerton. She also was a 4-H leader for a number of years. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Elmer; two brothers, Marvin McAfee and Glen McAfee; and one sister, Eileen (McAfee) Redler.
