Description	:	RAPHINE – Lois Irene Snyder Brooks, 86, of Raphine, passed away Friday, April 17 2015, at her home. Born July 12, 1928, in Rockbridge County, she was a daughter of the late Harry W. Snyder and Mamie Elizabeth Miller Snyder. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Marty Brooks; a brother, Bobby Snyder; a sister, Mildred Brooks; and a half-brother Merrille Snyder. Mrs. Brooks retired from Genesco and was a member of Vesuvius Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday school for over 30 years. Surviving are her husband of 68 years,... In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Marty Brooks; a brother, Bobby Snyder; a sister, Mildred Brooks; and a half-brother Merrille Snyder. Mrs. Brooks retired from Genesco and was a member of Vesuvius Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday school for over 30 years. Surviving are her husband of 68 years, Gray D. Brooks; two brothers, Raymond Snyder and Marvin Snyder, both of Vesuvius; and a half-sister, Brenda Fleshman of Buena Vista; and a half-brother, Ward Snyder of Raphine; and four special friends, Henry and Martha Black, and Bobby and Emily Seaman. A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 21, 2015, at Vesuvius Baptist Church with Pastor Matt Coiner and Dr. Michael Fitzgerald officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Carmel Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Frankie Tankesley, Mike Terry, Bobby Seaman, Terry Miller, Doug Parrish, Doug Snyder, Dale Fauber and Winfred Ramsey. Memorial contributions can be made in memory of Irene to Augusta Health Hospice of the Shenandoah, 64 Sports Medicine Drive, Fishersville, VA 22939. Family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 20, 2015, at Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington, VA.
