Description	:	Obituary- Lois Ahrens Becker, age 85, of Boone and the Westhaven Community, died at the Boone County Hospital on November 5, 2010. Funeral services will be Thursday, November 11, 2010, at 1 p.m. at the Schroeder Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall with Rev. Lindsay Watkins officiating. Burial will be in the Mineral Ridge Cemetery in Ridgeport. Lois was born in Laurens, Iowa, on April 27, 1925, the daughter of Louis and Maude (Garton) Ahrens. On August 9, 1947, she married Delbert Becker in Boone. The couple lived in Boone, Austin, Minnesota, and Cedar Rapids, moving back to Boone in 1988. In Cedar Rapids, Lois worked as a cook for five years at the Colony Inn. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and she enjoyed crocheting, embroidery, crosswords, and puzzles. Lois also enjoyed cooking, gardening, the Minnesota Vikings, and family gatherings. Lois was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1995, a sister Ferne Craven, and three brothers Ross "Bud", Marvin "Fritz", and John Ahrens. She is survived by a son Ronald Becker and wife Terry of Boone; three daughters Dianne Curry and husband Les of Pilot Mound, Sherri Richley and husband Matt of Maquoketa, and Tammi Wright and husband Jeff of Swisher; a brother George Ahrens and friend Glenda Dudley of Boone; two sisters Chris Fritcher and husband Paul and Mary Conard and husband Howard, all of Boone; 13 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren. Friends may call at the Schroeder Memorial Chapel on Wednesday from noon until 8 p.m. where the family will be present from 6 until 8 p.m. Visitation continues Thursday at the funeral chapel from 8 a.m. until service time. Memorials may be directed to the family to be used at their discretion.
