Description	:	Lois was the daughter of Sgt. Aaron Jackson Sr and Sarah Cole. On Dec 7, 1830 she married John Blake Jr, son of John Blake Sr and Lois Massuere. Their marriage was incorrectly listed in the History of Stark book. They listed that John Blake Jr married Jane Smith, daughter of Jeremiah Smith & Olive Cole. That Jane Smith married Jonas Jackson Smith, son of John Blake Jr and Lois Jackson. Under the listing for Lois Jackson they said "see Blake".... but she was never listed in the Blakes as having married... Read More	Lois was the daughter of Sgt. Aaron Jackson Sr and Sarah Cole. On Dec 7, 1830 she married John Blake Jr, son of John Blake Sr and Lois Massuere. Their marriage was incorrectly listed in the History of Stark book. They listed that John Blake Jr married Jane Smith, daughter of Jeremiah Smith & Olive Cole. That Jane Smith married Jonas Jackson Smith, son of John Blake Jr and Lois Jackson. Under the listing for Lois Jackson they said "see Blake".... but she was never listed in the Blakes as having married a Blake. They kinda jumped a generation. Their children were Jonas Jackson, William, Arianna Smith, Eben Dow, Charles Nelson, and Warren John. (These match the names listed in the family bible passed down to John Blake Jr's son from 2nd marriage, Irvin Walter Blake). Age: 39yrs 1mo NOTE: The only two children who a death and burial place for them hasn't been found yet is Jonas Jackson Blake and Warren John Blake. Jonas married twice in NH and was widowed in 1857 by Jane Elizabeth Smith and in 1862 by Seraphina Cole. The two wives are buried together in Stark Village cemetery. The last listing for Jonas in Stark was the 1860 census. There is a July 1863 CW draft registration in Salem, VT listing a Jonas J. Blake, born about 1833, but it says he was born in VT and that he was married. I'm not sure yet if that is actually him, but he is the only Jonas J. Blake I have found anywhere. People list his death as June 22, 1898 but that was his father's death date. That date was incorrectly published in one of the local history books, including the Stark NH Tombstones book. His father's obituary states that he was survived by 4 sons and 1 daughter. That was Jonas, William, Warren, Irvin, and Arianna. Jonas is in the 1870 Winchester, CT census with brother Warren. The Stark NH Tombstones book listed that Jonas was also in NY. I find a 1875 NY city directory listing a Jonas J. Blake, Contractor. In 1880 Jonas was in Deerfield, MA, listed as single, with brother Eben (and his 7yr old daughter Mabel). Eben was listed as widowed but wife Ida was in Boston listed as married (4yr old daughter Effie can't be found). Both Jonas and Eben were listed as RR Contractors and Stone Cutters (their brother William was also a RR Contractor). In 1884 and 1885 RR contractors Jonas J. Blake and Brother (William) were sued for shorting someone for the amount of ground they removed for building a railroad. In Feb 1885 N. Dansville, NY Jonas J. Blake married a Frances Evermann. They had a daughter, Louise, in NY. In 1890 NY a Mrs Cornelia (Twiss) Blake brought Frances to court for stealing her husband and marrying him while he was still married to Cornelia. In 1870 Cornelia was in her parents house listed as Cornelia Blake. A marriage hasn't been found, but it's possible if that was indeed Jonas in 1863 VT then Cornelia could have been his wife (unless he squeezed another one in there). According to Frances Jonas had asked her to marry him but when she questioned him about rumors that he was married he said he was divorced. Because she was a Catholic girl she told him she couldn't marry him. Later he came back and said he was widowed so they married. Of course there is no record of the results of the 1890 court case, but nothing shows that Frances ever went to jail. Amazingly there doesn't seem to be a court case charging Jonas with bigamy either. Jonas is not found yet after 1890. In 1896-1897 Frances was listed in Rochester, NY as Mrs Frances E. Blake where she ran an "eating establishment". Jonas was not mentioned. From 1898 thru her death in 1926 Oakland, CA Frances was always listed as widow of Jonas J. Blake. From at least 1897 thru her death in 1936 Cornelia was always listed as widow of Jonas J. Blake. It appears Jonas died sometime between Jun 1898 and 1900, unless Frances left him and being Catholic didn't want to be divorced so she listed herself as widowed. The other child I can't find, Warren John, was born Apr 11, 1851 but hasn't been in a census beyond the 1870 CT census, where he was listed as a Stone Mason. The Stark NH Tombstones book states that Warren was a quarryman in Branford, CT and a Brakeman in Buffalo, NY, and stated that he drowned in Apr 1896. The 1893 Buffalo City Directory is the first one that Warren appeared in. He was in every directory through 1899, always listed as a Brakeman for the W.S.R.R. So... he did NOT drown in 1896. Possibly 1899 or 1900. Still researching. We only know both he and Jonas were alive on June 22, 1898 when their father died. The Family Bible appears to have Jonas's and Warren's death dates incorrect.
