LOIS FENN-DODDS ARRIVED THIS MORNING FOR INTERMENT. The body of Mrs. Lois Fenn-Dodds, 55, arrived here this morning over the Northwestern, from Winnemua, Nevada, where she had died Wednesday of last week. Met here by a small party of relatives and friends it was taken directly to the Nevada cemetery, where it was interred in the Fenn family lot, following a short prayer service by Rev. J. George Walz of Central Presbyterian church. The body was accompanied by the husband, J. W. Dodds. The younger sister, Mrs. Georgia Fenn-Hilman, had arrived the latter part of the week from her home and Binghampton, N. Y., and arranged for interment. Cancer was the cause of the death of Mrs. Dodds, she having been failing for many months. She leaves her husband but no children. She also leaves her sister, Mrs. Hilman of Binghampton and another sister, Mrs. Fenn-Wright of Los Angeles. The Fenns were well known in Nevada in an early day. The father, E. Wwight [sic] Fenn, with his wife cam her shortly after the war or about that time and for many years he was identified with the commercial and public life of the community. He was active in democratic circles of the county and held the post office here under Cleveland. Mrs. Fenn died in 18888 and the family home was finally broken up here in 1890 when the members scattered to various points, Mrs. Hilman to the home of her sister, Mrs. Dodds which was in Atlanta, Ga., at that time. Since then the Dodds home has been in Denver, and various other points. Lois Lillian Fenn was born in Nevada Jan. 1, 1868 and died at her home in Winnemucca, Nevada, April 11, 1923, making her 55 years, 3 months and 10 days of age. SUBMITTER'S NOTE: Lois Lillian (Fenn) Dodd was the daughter of Elbridge Dwight Fenn and Josephine B. Kinsell. Obituary from The Silver State, Winnemucca, Nevada, 12 April 1923: "Mrs. John Dodds called by Death End Came Last Night Following a Paralytic Stroke, Bringing to a Close an Illness of More Than Seven Years Following seven years of more or less constant suffering, Mrs. John Dodds of this city passed to the great beyond at 8:40 o'clock last night, at her home on West Fourth street. Between the time her husband left for his work yesterday morning and his return at noon for lunch, Mrs. Dodds suffered a paralytic stroke from which she never gained consciousness. Mr. Dodds found her in a stupor and remained with her until the end. Lola Fern Dodds was born in Nevada, Iowa, January 11, 1868, being 55 years old at death. Had she lived until the 29th day of this month she and Mr. Dodds would have celebrated their thirty-seventh wedding anniversary, they having been married that number of years ago at Mrs. Dodds' homeplace, Nevada, Iowa. Surviving are the husband, John Dodds, well known and respected yardmaster for the Western Pacific company in this city, and two sisters, Mrs. S. P. Wright of Los Angeles, and Mrs. J. C. Hillman of Binghampton, New York, who visited at the Dodds' home here last fall. With her husband, Mrs. Dodds came to Winnemucca during 1913 and had resided here continuously since. Regardless of her own certain fatal affliction, Mrs. Dodds was known here as one of Winnemucca's kindest and most considerate residence, a trait which was reflected in the husband, who during her lifetime spared no effort or expense to ease her declining years. When sickness was present in other homes it was always Mrs. Dodds who was first to bring assistance, even though at times she was probably in greater physical distress than those she helped. During recent years she has been practically bedridden, and the end came probably as a devine blessing to end suffering, life being snuffed out during unconsciousness. The body is at the funeral home of Wm. W. Grayson, where it may be viewed this evening, tomorrow and until train time Saturday morning, when Mr. Dodds will accompany it on train No. 20 to the old home at Nevada, Iowa, where interment will occur. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 o'clock to be conducted by Rev. Talbot of the Episcopal church."
