Description	:	Lois Louise Morrison passed away peacefully January 28, 2021, at Quality Senior Villages at the age of 100 years after living a long, healthy lifestyle. Lois was born Sept 11, 1920, to Port and Elva Whaley Johnson at their rural home north of Callaway. The farm family played together by attending barn dances, playing cards, singing, and dancing, playing croquet, and swimming at the river. Lois played with her dolls and clomped around in her high-heeled shoes, developing her future style and appearance. Her siblings, Harold, Wilma, and Veva Dee were close companions throughout their entire lives. Lois was born Sept 11, 1920, to Port and Elva Whaley Johnson at their rural home north of Callaway. The farm family played together by attending barn dances, playing cards, singing, and dancing, playing croquet, and swimming at the river. Lois played with her dolls and clomped around in her high-heeled shoes, developing her future style and appearance. Her siblings, Harold, Wilma, and Veva Dee were close companions throughout their entire lives. Lois attended Spring Creek School and graduated from Callaway High School with the class of 1940. In 1945 Lois married Charles “Buzzy” H Jacquot. They began a farming life in Dale Valley west of Merna. Lois still owned the three quarters that Buzzy and she bought, farmed, and paid for before his death in 1958. Three children were born Connie Jean, Janet Kay, and Daniel Charles during their 13 years of marriage. In 1961, Lois married Richard M Edwards from Broken Bow and one daughter, Julie Ann, was born when Lois was 46 years old, being pregnant the same time as Connie, her oldest daughter. Julie kept Mom “young at heart”, especially after Dick passed away in 1981. Lois married Lawrence (Bud) Morrison from Arnold, January 12, 1991. They lived in North Platte until his death in December 1999. Lois was a true partner for Bud as they hunted, fished, traveled, danced and entertained together throughout their 70’s. Bud’s sons and wives Howard & Linda, and Duane & Barb gave Lois & her family their unconditional love & support during the remainder of her life. Her final years were spent living at Off Broadway and Quality Senior Villages, being one of the longest living tenants in each facility. Music was a passion that led her to many places such as Comstock Country, Leiderman’s in Grand Island, Branson, MO, Nashville, TN. One of the earliest thrills was dancing to Big Band music at Sargent’s Oscar’s Palladium. She was never too old for fun and adventure as “you only live once, kid!” One example was camping and riding on a 4-wheeler through the Platte River at 85 years old; sitting in a rainstorm to hear Kenny Rogers, riding on a hay rack in the pasture at Callaway reunions, and travelling to CA alone at 19 years old. At 100 she still wanted to know, “Where shall we go? Come on.” After being baptized into the Catholic Church as an adult, she devoted her time & talents to the Anselmo and Broken Bow Catholic communities. She was active in the local Right to Life program. The American Auxiliary also benefited by her 72-year membership. The priority in her life was loving & appreciating her family. Every birth, wedding, birthday, picnic or gathering was attended with enthusiasm and food. Much of her time was spent caring for the health of her mother and husbands. In spite of losing loved ones, she had much fortitude and hopefulness to continue, always giving credit to her children and her Catholic faith for that strength. Her last celebration was her 100th birthday party in 2020. She graciously welcomed guests in the QSV courtyard and joined the family for the evening meal. Lois is survived by daughters Connie (Roger) Carroll, Broken Bow; Janet Hill, Holdrege; Julie (Mark) Watson, Sacramento, CA, and son Daniel (Sandy) Jacquot, Colorado Springs, CO; stepson Duane (Barb) Morrison, Douglas, WY; and step daughter-in-law, Linda Morrison, Omaha; 10 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren and 5 great, great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; husbands, 4 siblings and two sons-in-law, Dean Hill and Howard Morrison. Burial will be in the Dale Catholic Cemetery northwest of Merna, NE.
