Lois died Monday, September 28 at Avera Mother Joseph Manor. Lois Mae Olson was born on August 27, 1926 to Arthur Olson and Lillian (Erickson) Olson of Colfax, ND. She graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1944 and worked at the National Tea Store which was one of her favorite jobs. Lois worked with Clarence at Junker Real Estate and Insurance and at Northern Monument from 1990 until retirement in 2000. Lois married Clarence on September 15, 1946 in Breckenridge, MN. They had five children and were actively involved in their lives and the lives of their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Lois was a very active of member of the former EUB church/now Faith United Methodist serving as a Sunday school teacher, Bible school teacher, giving the best children sermons, singing in the choir, playing the piano and singing in duets and trios and being actively involved in the circle. Lois was also an active member of the RSVP and the Red Cross Grey Ladies. Lois had a passions for using her talents to help others in any way she could. She made hundreds of lap robes for veterans, made school bags for the church mission projects and for her niece Julie’s first grade class. She played to the piano for nursing homes, accompanied singing groups, such as the friendship singers and played for church services at Mother Joseph’s Nursing home. She loved playing the piano at the Alzheimer’s unit and then would stop to see her best friend there and other church members. She was a Cub Scout leader, a Brownie leader and a Girl Scout leader. Lois also made many quilts for family and friends. Lois loved to quilt, sew, do crossword puzzles, word searches, read the paper, play cards, and watch Wheel of Fortune, Lawrence Welk, funniest home videos, and the TWINS. Her main love was Music and she loved to dance and play the keyboard, piano, organ and harmonica. She taught herself to read music at an early age and also played by ear. She never had a lesson in her life. Lois loved visiting and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Time spent with them might include a trip to Storybook land, playing the piano or keyboard for them, playing cards, coloring, telling funny jokes, watching the twins, having a tea party, and just plain loving them and cherishing them with all she had. Lois lived at Mother Joseph Manor for the last seven months, and was an active part of the community. She greeted everyone with a smile, read the paper, played nickel bingo, listened to all the music groups and participated in all the activities and of course enjoyed the visits by friends and family. Grateful for having shared her life are her children: Carol (Steve) Bailey, Paul J (Kathy) Junker, Patti Marshall, Dave A. (Linda) Junker, Debra Junker; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren: sisters; Margaret Hingst, Alice Kerper; brother; Edwin (Doris) Olson, many nieces, nephews and close friends. Preceding Lois in death are her husband, Clarence Junker, parents, Arthur Olson & Lillian Erickson, brother, Harlan Olson and sister, Pearl Klubberud.
