When he placed the stone with both their names on it he had no idea then that he would marry again and be buried in Roswell, New Mexico. 1976 Lois (Trueblood) Hallowell was born February 22, 1910 in Tippecanoe Township, Henry Co., Iowa to Charles Matthew & Minnie Viola (Bogue) Trueblood and died August 17, 1976 at a nursing home in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. She married Herman Collins Hallowell on May 4, 1930 and to this union were born 1 son & 2 daughters. She was a graduate of Maple Grove #6; Mt. Pleasant Sr. High School and attended college two years at William Penn College, Oskaloosa, Iowa, earning her teacher's certificate. She taught school 1 year prior to her marriage. She and Herman were farmers and she spent many hours working in her garden, raising chickens, processing and canning and freezing food to feed her family. She was also an active member of the Cedar Creek Friends Church serving as pianoist and Sunday School teacher. She was an excellent writer and had great bookkeeping skills. She is survived by her husband, children and several grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Verl. Funeral services were held at the Cedar Creek Friends Church on Friday, August 20, at 2:00 p.m., with Reverend Lewis Savage and George Bigley officiating. Arrangements were by the Beatty-Jennings Chapels of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. Music was provided by Mrs. Lewis Savage and Mrs. Carroll Syfert. Casket Bearers were Merlin Trueblood, Jerry Mills, Duane Maxwell, Joe Conaway, Ben Breazeale & Ollie Kruse. Burial was in the cedar Creek Cemetery.
