Read More	ELZNIC, LOIS VERA—Lois Vera Klein Elznic was born to Karl Henry Klein and Vera Christina Ackerman Klein on Nov. 4, 1934, in Clay county near Sutton, and passed away on Dec. 29, 1997, at the Lincoln General Hospital in Lincoln, at the age of 63 years, 1 month, and 25 days. She was the youngest of seven children in the family. She was baptized at the Hope Reform Church in Sutton and received her schooling at Sutton High School, graduating with the Class of 1953. Lois met Donald Elznic while working at the Paris Café in Sutton. After they were married on Nov. 8, 1953, at her parents’ home in Sutton, they made their home in Geneva where she became a full time homemaker. To this union were born four children, Karla, Donald Jr., Timothy and Joseph. After her children were almost out of school, she started working at the Geneva Elementary School, where she was a cafeteria aide for 15 years. She later worked a short time for M-C Industries before finally retiring. Lois enjoyed many activities and hobbies. She loved to work with her plastic canvas needle pointing and was always on the lookout for new and different patterns. She would spend countless hours on a new project only to give it away when it was finished. Quilt making, flowers, canning, Bingo, pickle cards and auctions were just some of her other hobbies. Family was also very important to her and she took great pride and joy in her grandchildren. She always enjoyed it when they would come to visit or stay a few days. Lois was preceded in death by her parents and step-father, Karl Klein and John and Vera Hofman, five sisters, three brothers-in-law, and many aunts and uncles. She is survived by her husband, Donald Sr.; daughter and son-in-law, Karla and Frank Slezak and their daughters, Jodi and Kelly; sons and daughters-in-law, Donald Jr and Debra Elznic and their children, Sarah and Tyler (“TJ”); Timothy and Sharlene Elznic and son Jason; Joseph Elznic and son Patrick (“PJ”); a sister, Margaret Staberg; aunt, Henrietta Yant; and a host of relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted from Farmer & Son Funeral Home in Geneva on Friday, Jan. 2, 1998, with Kim Dunker officiating. Music selections were “One Day at a Time,” “Love Me,” and “On Eagles Wings.” Casket bearers were Ron Isley, Rodney A. Griess, Kenneth Ebbeka, Delbert Sorge, Frank Sokolik and Joe Sokolik.
