Lola Florence White Williams was born October 2, 1914 on the family farm north of Brooklyn to Almon and Julia Testar White. Florence was a life long resident of the Brooklyn area. She was baptized at the First Presbyterian Church of which she was a life long member. Read More	Lola Florence Williams, 93, of Brooklyn, died Wednesday, April 23, 2008, in Brooklyn Community Estates, Brooklyn, IA. Lola Florence White Williams was born October 2, 1914 on the family farm north of Brooklyn to Almon and Julia Testar White. Florence was a life long resident of the Brooklyn area. She was baptized at the First Presbyterian Church of which she was a life long member. She was active in the Church, first in her Sunday school class, then in the adult Sunday school class; taught in the children's Sunday school for several years and the Ladies Circle group. While a resident at the nursing home she gave devotions on Saturday mornings and visited residents there. Florence graduated with the class of 1933 from Brooklyn High School. She married Richard "Dick" A. Williams on February 12, 1934. They lived on farms around Brooklyn area. She was a homemaker, loved to bake, sew and make quilts. She loved her yard and vegetable and flower gardens. Surviving are her son, Raymond (Marlene) Williams of Brooklyn; two sisters, Neva Johnson and Jean Van Ersvelde; three grandchildren, Roy (Christine) Williams of Brooklyn, Randy (Teresa) Williams of Brooklyn and Rhonda (Rod) Weiss of Grinnell; nine great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Her parents; her husband; her brother, John White; and a granddaughter, Susie Milner Williams preceded her in death. Funeral services for Florence Williams were held a10:30 AM, Saturday, April 26, 2008, at the First Presbyterian Church, Brooklyn. Rev. John Reynolds officiated. The musician was Esther Huedepohl and the soloist was Richard Huedepohl. Casket-Bearers were Roy Williams, Randy Williams, Rod Weiss, Ronald Arvidson, Robert Ryan and Cade Lang. Honorary Casket-Bearers were Thomas Williams, Toshia Williams, Bethany Williams, Steven Milton, Travis Williams, Christian Williams, Traci Williams, Nicole Weiss and Joshua Weiss. Interment was in Brooklyn Memorial Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established. Nevenhoven Funeral Services were in charge of arrangements.
