Sones, was born December 11, 1903, on a farm near Norwood, Iowa. She died August 6, 1940, at the Yocom hospital in Chariton, Iowa. Death was caused by an automobile accident which occurred near Indianola, Iowa, Saturday, August 2. At the time of her death she was aged 36 years, 7 months and 25 days. Others injured in the accident were her husband, Oscar Schreiber and two daughter, Beatrice and Luella. Gertrude Sones was married to Oscar Schreiber, of Indianola, in 1921. To them were born four children, Darrell, Neil, Beatrice and Luella. Besides her husband and children, she leaves to mourn her death her mother, Mrs. Mary J. Sones, four brothers and one sister, Charles and Harry Sones, of El Centro, Calif.; Mrs. Charles Rhodes, of Glenwood, Calif.; Roy Gray and Donald Sones, of Norwood. Her father preceded her in death in 1937, and her brother, Frank, in 1905. Mrs. Schreiber's girlhood was spent in the neighborhood of Norwood and in California. She was converted at the age of 18 and united with the United Brethren church. Besides being active in the church and Sunday school, she has been a leader in the Farm Bureau and other community activities. She was a devoted wife and mother and a kind neighbor, and will be greatly missed in the home and community. Funeral services were held at the United Brethren church in Norwood, Friday afternoon, August 9, conducted by the Rev. Huff, of Indianola, assisted by the Rev. Duncan of Norwood. Interment was in the Fletcher cemetery.
