Description	:	Lona Rae Audet passed away Feb. 21, 2010, in Billings, of natural causes, surrounded by family and friends. This followed a sudden illness of only four days. She was born in Scobey, April 29, 1948 to Lillian (Veis) and Bob Tande. She attended Scobey Schools and graduated in 1966. This followed a sudden illness of only four days. She was born in Scobey, April 29, 1948 to Lillian (Veis) and Bob Tande. She attended Scobey Schools and graduated in 1966. In July 1968, Lona Rae married her high school sweetheart, Phil Audet, also of Scobey. That fall they moved to Havre, where Lona worked at MDU to support herself and Phil, while he completed his bachelor’s degree and played baseball at Northern Montana College. That summer, they returned to Scobey and purchased and ran the Burger Hut, until Phil accepted a position with Nemont Telephone that fall. Soon after, Phil and Lona were joined by their two children, Maury and Arlee. Lona was a homemaker while the kids were young and then went on to enjoy working for a number of Scobey businesses. During these years, she loved following her children’s athletic events across the state. She especially appreciated the companionship with other parents (win or lose, she always had a wonderful time). Lona had a soft heart for all animals, and loved reading, gardening, crocheting and playing bridge. She greatly enjoyed retirement (from the Credit Union) and the extra time it gave her and her husband to spend together. They were both very active with the church during retirement. Lona’s passion always was her family, especially, in recent years, her grandchildren. Both granddaughters were born just months apart in the past year, and both named in honor of their Grandma. She had a kind heart and smile for all. Everyone who knew her cherished her character, loyalty and compassion. Survivors include her husband of 41 years, Phil; their children, Maury (Tatiana) and their child Ivanka Rae and Arlee (Tracy) Vatnsdal, and their children Kade and Kamble Rae; her brother, Rod (Charle) Tande; father and mother-in-law, Art and Mazel Audet; as well as a large extended family of the Tande, Audet and Veis families. She was preceded in death by her parents. Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 26, at St. Philip’s Catholic Church in Scobey.
