Lonie, 82, wife of Buddy Ashmore of Pitkin passed away January 31, 2012 in her residence with family and loved ones by her side. She was born on November 2, 1929 in Pitkin to Riley and Mamie Johnson Maricle. She was a homemaker, a loving wife, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Her parents; two daughters, Brenda G. Ashmore, and Anita Ashmore Ward; one son, Robert Gerald Ashmore; two brothers, Milton and Shelby Maricle; and two sisters, Dorothy Mawyer and Ola Droddy, precede her in death. She leaves behind her loving family to cherish her memory, her husband of 63 years Buddy Ashmore; two grandsons, Greg Ward of Lecompte and Mark Ward of Seattle, Washington; five great-grandchildren, Savannah, Carson, Tyler, Riley, and Lilah Ward; four sisters, Nola Cole of Oberlin, Nora Estes of Prince George, Virginia, Mary Hensley of Church Road, Virginia, and Voncille Elmore of Sutherland, Virginia; a host of nieces and nephews; and a special friend Judy Perkins. Pallbearers to serve will be Ardis Cole, Carlon Cole, Elton Paul, Calvin Batton, Julius Ashmore, and Joe Elmore.
