Attended Beechville School through eighth grade, graduated from Mason City High School in 1928; attended one year at Kearney State Normal School, taught in a rural school near Mason City. Married: March 1, 1930, to Lester Warren in Phillipsburg, Kan.; had to keep their marriage a secret until her teacher's contract was fulfilled, because teachers were not allowed to be married in those days. Lived on a farm in the Beechville area, but after 11 years moved to Buffalo, N.Y., to work in an aircraft factory during World War II; returned to Nebraska, lived in Omaha for five years; returned to Mason City, operated a drug store briefly before making their home in Kearney in 1948 Worked as homemaker; also sold Stanley Home Products on the party plan, then sold Avon cosmetics door-to-door and worked at Sears Roebuck and Co. and at Hirschfield Men's Clothing Store. Activities: member of the Eagle's Auxiliary, Rebekah Lodge, Royal Neighbors of America and the John Birch Society, was a pink lady at Good Samaritan Hospital and was very active in the Senior Hospitality Center's founding and activities; enjoyed playing cards and dancing Lived in her own home in Kearney until 1998, then moved to Homestead Assisted Living in Kearney; moved to Evergreen Assisted Living in O'Neill in September 2001; enjoyed bingo and dominoes. Survivors include her daughter, Linda Fitch of O'Neill; also son-in-law, Randall Fitch of O'Neill; grandson, Richard Fitch and wife, Cammi, of Lincoln; granddaughter, Melissa Petersen of Kearney; great-grandsons, Nicholas Petersen of Kearney and Logan and Bryan Fitch, both of Lincoln; great-granddaughter, Brenna Petersen of Kearney; one niece; and four nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and two sisters.
