Description	:	MINDEN — Loreata Podewitz, 74, of Heartwell died Sunday, Sept. 13, 2015, at Kearney County Health Services-Hospital in Minden. Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Minden with the Rev. John Carrier officiating. Burial will be at Eaton Cemetery in Heartwell. Layton-Craig Funeral Home in Minden is in charge of the arrangements. She passed away shortly after being admitted to the hospital. Loreata was born April 26, 1941, to Carl and Ruby (Knight) Einspahr in Hildreth. She married Howard Podewitz on Feb. 8, 1959, in Minden at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Howard passed away in 2001. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Minden for many years and also was active in the Heartwell Lions Club and the Ladies Auxiliary Post 5537. She was the rural mail carrier for the Heartwell area for many years and owned and operated Horseshoe Tavern in Heartwell for 11 years. Loreata enjoyed being around her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. They all were the light of her life. She loved being outside, working with her flowers and gardening. Survivors include her son, Fred Podewitz and wife Marcy of Ozark, Mo.; daughter, Diana Podewitz of Heartwell; son, John Podewitz and wife Ramoni of Woodstock, Ga.; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Charles Einspahr of Minden; and sisters, Althea Shepard and husband Charles of Kenesaw and Marie Nelson and husband Terry of Minden. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and brother, David.
