Description	:	Loren Hunnicutt, 94, of Grand Island, formerly of Aurora, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2015, at Primrose Retirement Center in Grand Island. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, at Evangelical Covenant Church in Aurora. The Revs. Karl Larson and Paul Nauman will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Higby-McQuiston Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements. Loren Elton Hunnicutt, the son of Otto Clifton and Bessie May (Detamore) Hunnicutt, was born at Giltner, Neb., on Jan. 1, 1921, and passed away in Grand Island, Neb., on Nov. 18, 2015, at the age of 94. He grew up in Giltner. Loren attended Mount Hope Country School and graduated from Giltner High School. He worked on the family farm with his father. Loren served in the U. S. Army during WWII. He was honorably discharged after three years of service. Loren was united in marriage to Doris Louise Zehr on Oct. 17, 1948, at First Christian Church. They enjoyed life on the farm. In 1968 they built a new home southwest of Aurora. Doris passed away on May 25, 2008. Loren was married to LaVerle Bish on May 1, 2009. After their marriage they lived in Aurora, before moving to Grand Island earlier this year. Loren was a member of the Pleasant View Bible Church where he taught Sunday School. He was a member of the Lester Harter American Legion in Aurora and served on the NRD board for 29 years. Loren loved collecting and restoring cars and tractors. He enjoyed going to Arizona with Doris in their camper. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Doris; two brothers, Gerald and Keith Hunnicutt; and a sister, Virginia Bish. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, LaVerle, of Grand Island and her children, daughter Vicki (Craig) Widdel and son Rob (Jill) Hunnicutt of Aurora; grandchildren, Chad (Wendy) Cox, Eric (Andrea) and Ashley Hunnicutt; two great-grandchildren, Chance and Brianna Cox; four sisters, Verla Bachman of Grand Island, Bonnie Ediger of Aurora, Betty (Bob) Ranard of Grand Island and Marleen (Marv) Caspersen of Boelus; a sister-in-law, Lucille Hunnicutt of Grand Island; a brother-in-law, Harv (Jo) Bish of Aurora; and many nieces, nephews and numerous friends.
