The son of Charles and Myrtle (Gogerty) Norman, Loren was born July 29, 1914 in Zearing, where he resided his entire life. He married Marjore Weeks on November 3, 1940 in Roland. Loren served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1946 and was the U.S. Postmaster in Zearing, retiring in 1975. Loren was a member of the National Association of Postmasters of the U.S. and Bethel United Methodist Church in Zearing, where he taught Sunday school. He was a ham radio enthusiast, a hobby he developed after serving as a radio operator for the airlines. Loren also loved to play golf, hunt and fish. He is survived by his wife, Marjore Norman of Zearing; sons, Darrell Norman of Zearing and Don Norman of Franklin, TN; grandson, Dennis Norman of Summerville, SC; granddaughter, Janice Norman of Nashville, TN; great-grandson, Drake Norman of Summerville, SC; and sister, Catherine Layne of Lynchburg, VA. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Harold; and sister, Pearl Thorson. Visitation with the family present is from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, February 25 at the Fredregill Funeral Home in Zearing.
