The Rev. Al Polito officiated at the services. Lorene Miller of Monticello died Friday, Feb. 18 at the Monticello Senior Home following a period of declining health. Lorene Cox was born June 1, 1914 at Schell City, Mo. She graduated from Hopkinton High School and then attended Lenox College in Hopkinton and a cosmetology college in Des Moines. Following her education, she worked for a doctor in Guttenberg. Lorene Cox and Edwin F. Miller were married April 2, 1937 at Des Moines. The couple made their home in Center Junction from 1939 until 1951 where Edwin managed the Farmers Mutual Creamery. In 1951, the couple moved to Menahga, Minn., where they operated the Sunset Lodge Resort. In 1957, the couple took over the operation of Milaca Hotel in Milaca, Minn. In 1960, they moved to San Diego, Calif., where he managed amilling company and she managed the Sun Harbor Motel at Point Loma, Calif. She was preceded in death by her son Brent in 1979 and husband, Edwin in 1991. She moved back to Monticello in 1991. Survivors include two sisters-in-law, Maureen Strong of Applegate, Calif., and Margaret Cox of Monticello, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her son and husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and three sisters. Casket bearers were Tom Kelley, David Cox, Dick Cox, Don Cox, Bob Cox and Dean Cox. Goettsch Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
