A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 24that St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church with Rev. William L'Heureux, Celebrant. Visitation will be Monday from 4 to 7:30 p.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, followed by a Rosary at 7:30 p.m. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery. Lorene was born February 24, 1919 in rural Lindsay, Nebraska to William and Alma (Albers) Lloyd. She graduated from Platte Center High School in 1937. On April 28, 1943, Lorene married Gerard Konz at Holy Family Catholic Church in Lindsay. They farmed in rural Monroe for 42 years and moved to Genoa in 1986. Lorene was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, St. Rose Altar Society where she served as an officer many times, OACCW receiving the Mullen Award in 1998, the highest award presented in support of the OACCW, and the American Legion Auxiliary. In addition, she served on the Boards of the Pawnee Senior Center and Sunrise Villa, was a member of the U & I Club and was a caregiver to other family members. Lorene took care of decorating St. Rose Church for many years. She was very artistic and had a passion for creating beautiful floral arrangements. She also enjoyed sewing, gardening and cooking. She loved Christmas and the color red. Lorene loved her family and started the tradition of "Christmas in July" as a time for the family reunion, which she proudly celebrated last week. The highlight of her life was spending time with her family and friends. Lorene is survived by her son: Dave (Mary Lee) Konz of rural Genoa; daughter Carol (Vergel) Cyza of rural Columbus; son: Bill (Marcy) Konz of Columbus; daughter Sharon Czarnick of Genoa; daughter Dianne Cook of Columbus; daughter Mary Lynn Morris of Omaha and son Marvin (Kim) Konz of Monroe. She is also survived by 35 grandchildren, 61 great grandchildren, aunt Helen Albers of Fremont, sisters-in-law Marian Lloyd and Gladys Lloyd, both of Columbus, and Kate Lloyd of St. Edward, and Luella Hahn of Omaha, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Lorene was preceded in death by her parents, husband Gerard (1988), brothers Willis, Harold and David Lloyd, son-in-law Stan Czarnick and granddaughters Kylie Cyza and Mary Konz.
