Iler died Saturday morning at 7:30 o'clock of enlargement of the liver. The funeral services were held at the home of W. S. P. Eyler, who lives in the south part of town. It occurred at 4 p.m. Sunday, the United Workmen and Odd Fellows lodges having charge. The deceased was about 35 years of age. He leaves a wife and three children to mourn his departure. A few days before the death of Mr. Iler, he drove to Belgrade with Mr. N. Saville. The day was damp and chilly and the deceased caught a severe cold on the long drive. Although he had been troubled for several years with liver complaint, the cold hastened his death. He contemplated opening a restaurant at Belgrade soon. His wife and family were still in Colorado at the time of his death. A telegram was sent a few days before the end, telling her of his serious condition, but the family did not reach Mr. Iler's bedside until two hours after life was extinct. The deceased was a brother of Mrs. W. S. P. Eyler of our city. The stricken family and relatives have the heartfelt sympathy of the entire community. Lorenzo Dow Iler was born Dec. 19, 1866 in Marion County, Iowa, and died in Fullerton, Neb. April 9, 1904, aged 37 years 3 months and 20 days. He was married to Lizzie Hessler Aug. 27, 1896 at Osceola, Neb., who, with one son and two daughters, survive him. He also leaves his parents, four brothers and four sisters. He was a member in good standing of the A.O.U.W. at Osceola, Neb. and of the I.O.O.F. at Shelby, Neb. His last illness dates from about July 1, 1903, though his health has been poor for the past five years. He was a man highly respected by all who knew him for his strict integrity and many manly virtues and is sincerely mourned by his family and friends who have lost a helpful devoted relative and friend.
