Panning, 69, of Hooper were held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, Mar. 2, 1979, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Hooper. The Rev. Kenneth Ernstmeyer officiated. Pallbearers were LaVere Henneman, Steven Langemeier, Howard Stunkel, Edgar Rink, John Suhr, and John A. Suhr. Interment was in St. John's Church Cemetery north of Hooper, with the Warne Funeral Home in charge. Mrs. Panning died suddenly on Tuesday morning at the Dodge Co. Memorial Hospital in Fremont. She was born July 2, 1909, at Scribner, the daughter of Fred and Mary Nast. Baptized September 12, 1909, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Scribner, Mrs. Panning was confirmed April 1, 1923 at Zion Lutheran Church in Hooper. She received her elementary education in a Dodge County rural school and later attended the Hooper schools. A long-time member to St. John's Lutheran Church in Hooper, she was a member of the church choir, Ladies Aid, LMWL, and the Dorcas Workers. Loretta Nast was married to Gilbert Panning on December 3, 1930, at the Immanual Lutheran Church parsonage by the Rev. Ernest Eckhardt. Two children, Marlene and Gene, were born to this union. A life-long resident of Dodge County she resided with her husband and family on farms west of Hooper and finally north of Hooper until moving into Hooper upon retirement about two years ago. Mr. Panning is serving as president of the Dodge County Fair Board. Survivors, in addition to her husband, Gilbert, include daughter, Marlene Moseman, her husband, Marlyn, and children, Denise, Gail, and Sheri of rural Hooper; son, Gene, and hs wife, Alberta, and children, Ann, Mark and Susan of Kearney; one sister, Mrs. Herbert (Irene) Suhr of Mesa, Arizona; one brother, Arnold Nast, of Hooper; one half-sister, Mrs. Lorrain Rose of Miami, Oklahoma; one half-brother, Roland Peters of Burbank, Calif., and well as many other relatives and friends.hhw
