Description	:	Loretta Dirks, age 96, of Monticello, died Friday, November 19, 2004 at the Monticello Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following a brief illness. Funeral services will be held 10:30 Monday morning, November 22, 2004 at the Wayne Zion Lutheran Church, rural Monticello with interment in the Wayne Zion Cemetery. Rev. Eugene Schipper will officiate at the services. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a sister, Mayeda Folkerts, and 3 brothers, Lorance, Ervin and Emmund Wilken. Loretta Marie Wilken was born October 15, 1908 near Langworthy, Iowa. She was the daughter of John and Emma Prable, Wilken. Loretta attended Wayne Township School #9. Following her mothers death Loretta at age 13, took over the household. Loretta M. Wilken and August Dirks were married February 6, 1929 at the Wayne Zion Lutheran Church. The couple farmed in Wayne Township until 1973 when they moved to Monticello. August preceded Loretta in death on December 2, 1984. Loretta was a life long member of the Wayne Zion Lutheran Church. She was Baptized there and Confirmed her faith on April 9, 1922. She also belonged to Sarah Circle and the Quilters. Loretta loved to work in the garden, watch sunsets and the birds. She enjoyed music and especially so if her grandchildren or great-grandchildren were performing.
