Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 3, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at the Hayti Lutheran Church in Hayti with Pastor Randy Eisenbeisz officiating. Erin Stevenson will be the organist. Burial will be in the West Norden Cemetery, Norden Township, Hamlin County, SD. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 2nd from 4 to 7 p.m. at Wight & Comes Funeral Home in Watertown. Read More	Hayti – Loretta Tetzlaff, 83, took her Heavenly Father's hand and was led home on June 27, 2017, leaving her Earthly home behind. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 3, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at the Hayti Lutheran Church in Hayti with Pastor Randy Eisenbeisz officiating. Erin Stevenson will be the organist. Burial will be in the West Norden Cemetery, Norden Township, Hamlin County, SD. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 2nd from 4 to 7 p.m. at Wight & Comes Funeral Home in Watertown. Visitation will continue at the church on Monday prior to the service, with a family prayer service at 10:00 a.m. Active pallbearers will be Loretta’s grandsons and Honorary Pallbearers will be her granddaughters. Loretta May Tetzlaff was born August 18, 1933, to Ole and May (Shelsta) Prouty on a farm near Bryant, SD. She graduated from Hayti High School and Dakota State College. Loretta was married to Vernon Tetzlaff on August 14, 1955, at the Lake Norden Apostolic Lutheran Church. They were blessed to have 61 years together. She and her husband lived on a farm north of Hayti. Loretta was a member of the Hayti Lutheran Church where she was involved in Bible study, Ladies Aide, and quilting. She demonstrated her strong faith by dedicating many years to teaching Sunday School, Bible School, and being Education Superintendent. She also held office as the church treasurer. 40 plus years of teaching in several rural schools, Thomas, Hayti, and the Hamlin School District brought Loretta much joy. She instilled in her students a love of learning and the belief they could become whatever they strived for. She truly cared for her students as was evident when she would inquire about them even into adulthood. Visits from former students brought Loretta great pride. Loretta is best remembered for her caring and loving spirit and her ability to connect with everyone she crossed paths with. Countless hours were spent playing games of all sorts and putting together puzzles with family and friends. She was always unbeatable in “Chinese Checkers”, one of her favorites. Loretta loved spending time with her grandchildren and had them over for countless sleepovers and was known to always have the best chocolate chip cookies around. She went to great lengths to catch as many activities of her children and grandchildren as she could. She, along with Vernon, was a #1 Charger, Trojan, Jackrabbit, Arrow, Bulldog, Governor, and Bobcat fan. During the summer, her flower beds were always blooming with beautiful colors. Loretta is survived by her husband, six children,one brother ,one sister, 19 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Ray Prouty; sister, Roselyn Prouty; 3 brothers in infancy, Duane and twins Larry and Harry; and several brothers and sisters-in-laws.
