Description	:	Loring Eugene Beerbower, of Hicksville, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, February 8, 2016. Born on February 20, 1925 in Paulding County, he was the son of the late Ira and Ardis (Hootman) Beerbower. Loring was a 1943 graduate of Hicksville High School. He graduated from The Ohio State University with a degree in Agriculture, and was employed as a Soil Conservationist in five counties around the state of Ohio. Read More	Loring Eugene Beerbower, of Hicksville, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, February 8, 2016. Born on February 20, 1925 in Paulding County, he was the son of the late Ira and Ardis (Hootman) Beerbower. Loring was a 1943 graduate of Hicksville High School. He graduated from The Ohio State University with a degree in Agriculture, and was employed as a Soil Conservationist in five counties around the state of Ohio. He was the first Conservationist to serve in Erie County. In 1975, he received the Outstanding Performance Award by the U.S. Soil Conservation Service. Loring served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater on the USS Pinkney during WWII. In September, 2015, he was honored to be a part of the Northeast Indiana Honor Flight. Loring married his wife of 61 years, Carol Luse, on July 10, 1954 and she survives. He was a member of the Church of Christ all of his life and served as a Deacon, Elder, Sunday school teacher and Superintendent of Sunday School. He was also on various committees over the years. He especially loved serving on the mission committee, and made two trips to the New Orleans area after Hurricane Katrina while he was in his 80’s. Loring enjoyed woodworking, gardening, reading, basket making, caning chairs, and spending time with family. He loved sports and was an avid Buckeye fan. He was a regular at the Red Cross Blood Mobile. Over his lifetime, he gave 22 gallons of blood. In his later years, he also gave platelets. He is also survived by two sons, Stephen (Stephanie) of Hicksville, David (Melissa) of Bryan; a daughter, Sharon of Angola, Indiana; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy Rae, Frances (Phil) Emanuel, and Kathleen (Gareth) Reese. He was preceded in death by a brother, Herbert and a sister Louise Brown. Funeral services for Loring will be Friday at 11:00 at the First Church of Christ, Hicksville, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Pastor Jerold Tear will officiate. Visitation will be Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 at Smith & Brown Funeral Home. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery, Hicksville.
