Lorna was born on August 29, 1924, on the family farm near Denver, Iowa, the daughter of Herman and Hilda (Poock) Koepke. She attended country school through the 8th grade. Following school, Lorna worked as a housekeeper for various families in the Denver and Waterloo areas. She also worked at the funeral home in Denver as a housekeeper. Schroeder, 81, of Denver, Iowa, died on Monday, October 17, 2005, at the Denver Sunset Home. Lorna was born on August 29, 1924, on the family farm near Denver, Iowa, the daughter of Herman and Hilda (Poock) Koepke. She attended country school through the 8th grade. Following school, Lorna worked as a housekeeper for various families in the Denver and Waterloo areas. She also worked at the funeral home in Denver as a housekeeper. On May 11, 1947, Lorna was united in marriage to Lorenz Schroeder at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Denver. The couple made their home in Denver where Lorna raised her family. Following Lorenz's death on September 4, 1976, Lorna continued to live in her home in Denver and worked at Kurtt's Grocery Store part time. Lorna was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Denver. She enjoyed flower gardening, quilting, sewing, crocheting, cooking, counted cross stitch, shopping and going on vacations. Lorna is survived by her two daughters, Nancy Schroeder of Denver and Juliann Schroeder of Waterloo; and by one sister, Dorothea Degelau of Denver. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Florence Moeller; and two siblings in infancy. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 20, 2005, at 1:30 P.M. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Denver with Pastor Larry Feldt officiating. Burial will be held in Fairview Cemetery in Denver. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Denver. Memorials may be directed to Bremer-Butler Hospice.
