Burial will follow at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, rural Ireton, Iowa. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 15, 2014, at the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars. The family will be present from 5 to 7 p.m., with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. There will also be one hour of visitation at the church prior to the funeral service on Thursday. Lorna Elaine Siege was born on July 2, 1922, one of three children born to Fred and Olga (Mueller) Siege. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church near Ireton. Lorna attended country school at Sherman Township #7 through the eighth grade. Lorna moved to Le Mars in 1942. She became an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Le Mars, where she participated in Circle, quilting, and adult Bible class, and taught Sunday School. In early years, Lorna did domestic work. She then took a position with the Central Telephone Company as an operator. In 1959 she began work in Sioux City with Northwestern Bell Telephone Company as an operator. She would be promoted to service assistant and service observer prior to retiring in 1979. In 2006 she moved with her sister Lorene to Park Place Estates in Le Mars. She enjoyed flower gardening and the challenge of a good crossword puzzle. Lorna will be lovingly remembered by her sister Lorene Siege of Le Mars, Iowa, along with many other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; and an infant brother, Wesley Wayne Siege.
