Description	:	Lorna Mae (Westover/Sweeney) Cox, 82, went to be with the Lord, June 15, 2006, after an extended illness. Lorna was born Aug. 25, 1923, in Fortuna, N.D. to Nina (Kurrell) and James Leroy Westover. Lorna was the eldest of five sisters. The family moved to Montana in 1931 and finally settled in Clancy. Lorna attended Jefferson County High School until the family moved to Seattle. In 1942, she joined the war effort along with her mother, father, and younger sister. Lorna was born Aug. 25, 1923, in Fortuna, N.D. to Nina (Kurrell) and James Leroy Westover. Lorna was the eldest of five sisters. The family moved to Montana in 1931 and finally settled in Clancy. Lorna attended Jefferson County High School until the family moved to Seattle. In 1942, she joined the war effort along with her mother, father, and younger sister. The four of them became known as the "Welding Westovers" which was used by the shipyards as a recruitment tool. The family returned to Clancy in 1945. Lorna worked at a variety of jobs in the Seattle and Helena areas until she retired in 1976. Lorna married James Cox in 1974 and they enjoyed many years of camping and traveling throughout the United States. Lorna was preceded in death by her son Larry James Sweeney, grandson Michael Bailey, father James L. Westover, mother Nina I. Westover and sister Rosalyn I. Sweeney. Lorna loved to quilt and hook rugs. She was an avid reader. She was always concerned about everyone and was loved by all who met her. She was always open to new experiences and adventures. She was the navigator on many trips taken with beloved husband, Jim. She held the family together with her love. She is survived by her husband, James Cox of Helena; daughter and son-in-law Melody and Roger Pomatto, Helena; sisters: Merry Johnson, Clancy; JoAnne Kessler, Helena; Marjorie Sweat, Hayden Lake, Idaho; her stepchildren: James Cox, Great Falls; Linda (Joe) Balcerzak, Helena; Jennifer (Richard) Balcerzak, Helena; Gary (Nicki) Cox, Fredrick, Md.; numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m., Friday, June 23, from the Canyon Ferry Road Baptist Church with interment to follow at the Montana State Veterans Cemetery at Fort Harrison. Preferred memorials may be made to the charity of donor's choice. Local arrangements have been entrusted to Hagler-Anderson Funeral Home. Express condolences at http://www.legacy.com/HelenaIR/.
