Description	:	Lorna Marie (Pape) Ruckdaschel, age 58 at the time of her death, was the daughter of Lorenz John and Hazel (Paulsen) Pape. She was born on August 20, 1953 in Postville, Iowa. Lorna was baptized and confirmed at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Postville, Iowa. She graduated from the John R. Mott High School in Postville in 1971. Read More	Lorna Marie (Pape) Ruckdaschel, age 58 at the time of her death, was the daughter of Lorenz John and Hazel (Paulsen) Pape. She was born on August 20, 1953 in Postville, Iowa. Lorna was baptized and confirmed at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Postville, Iowa. She graduated from the John R. Mott High School in Postville in 1971. Lorna married Ricky Lyle Ruckdaschel on July 29, 1972 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Postville. After their marriage they moved to San Diego, California while Rick completed his tour of duty with the Navy. During their life together they lived in Waterloo, Iowa and Wichita, Kansas. Family was very important to Lorna and Rick, remaining very involved in the activities of their two children which included traveling and attending the kid's swimming competitions. Their home was always the base for kids to hang out. If kids ever needed help or some place to stay, they went to MaMa Ruck. Gardening and her love for animals were other interests of Lorna. When she became ill, she made it very clear that her dogs, Chance and Chuck, would always be with her. After Rick passed away in 2008, she threw herself into gardening and had the most beautiful yard in her Wichita neighborhood. As her illness became more progressive, Lorna moved to San Diego, California to be closer to her family, especially her grandchildren who always brought a smile to Grandma's face. Family and friends will long remember her positive attitude and infectious laugh. She courageously fought the cancer but was not able to win the battle, passing away on November 5, 2011. She was preceded in death by her husband Rick; her parents, Hazel and Lorenz Pape, and her brother, Lorenz "Buddy" Pape, Jr. Lorna is survived by her daughter Erin Ruckdaschel of Wichita, Kansas; her son Eric (Keegan) Ruckdaschel, and their three children, Charlie Rose, Ella Grace, and Theodore "Teddy" John Ruckdaschel of Encinitas, California; her sister, Linda (Denny) Baldwin of San Diego, California; a sister-in-law, Tonya (Duane) Millard of Edgewood, Iowa; two nephews, Kenny and Nick Valley, and niece, Rhea Cano in addition to many other relatives and friends. A Memorial service was held in San Diego, California at the Tierrasanta Lutheran Church on November 12, 2011 and a Celebration of Life service was held in Wichita, Kansas which was scheduled for a later date. Lorna was a former member of the Reformation Lutheran Church in Wichita, Kansas and after moving to San Diego she became a member of the Tierrasanta Lutheran Church in San Diego, California. It is not known if there was a cemetery burial or if she had requested to be cremated like her husband.
