Description	:	Funeral Services for Lorraine E. Zimmerman, age 91 of Elgin, will be held at 10:30am on Monday, October 10, 2011 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Elgin. Pastor Edmund Zimmerman will officiate with burial in the Ebenezer Cemetery north of Elgin. Special music will be provided by Annette Roth, organist and Lyle Zimmerman, soloist. LORRAINE ESTHER VETTER was born December 18, 1919 in Grant County, ND to Otto and Lydia (Leischner) Vetter. She grew up north of Elgin and attended a rural country school. At an early age, Lorraine began helping on the family farm. She was united in marriage to Emanuel Zimmerman on June 9, 1940 at the Old Leipzig Ebenezer Church north of Elgin. They farmed in several locations in Grant County until purchasing a place northwest of Elgin in 1951. They farmed and operated a dairy until moving into Elgin in 1969. Lorraine drove school bus and taught Sunday School at Ebenezer UCC Church where she and Emanuel are lifelong members. She and Emanuel moved into Dakota Hills in September of 2006 and into the Jacobson Memorial Care Center in 2010. Lorraine passed from this life there on Thursday morning, October 6, 2011 at the age of 91 years, 9 months, 18 days. She enjoyed making German dishes and spending time with her family and friends. Surviving family members include her husband of 71 years, Emanuel, 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Ramona and LeRoy Weikum, Connie and Lee Meyer, all of Elgin, ND; sons and daughters-in-law, Eugene and Tana Zimmerman, Leith, ND; Lloyd and Kathy Zimmerman, Mott, ND; Robert and Karen Zimmerman, Bismarck, ND; 11 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 2 brothers and 1 sister-in-law, Ray Vetter, Emil and Janice Vetter, all of Elgin, ND. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Raymond, 3 sisters, Huldah Schulz, Edna Schock and Elsie Vetter in infancy. Visitation will be on Sunday from 1:00 to 7:00pm at the Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home in Elgin.
