Description	:	Lorraine McKinney Glenn was reunited with her beloved husband, many family members, and dear friends in Jesus’ presence on February 15, 2016. Mrs. Glenn was born May 5, 1924, the youngest child of William Hickey McKinney and Sally Bolick McKinney. She often shared happy memories of her childhood spent on her father’s Mitchell County farm. Read More	Lorraine McKinney Glenn was reunited with her beloved husband, many family members, and dear friends in Jesus’ presence on February 15, 2016. Mrs. Glenn was born May 5, 1924, the youngest child of William Hickey McKinney and Sally Bolick McKinney. She often shared happy memories of her childhood spent on her father’s Mitchell County farm. Lorraine was a graduate of North Cove High School, where she was a member of the Girls’ Basketball Team. While working in Spruce Pine, NC, she met her future husband upon his return to the United States on leave from service in World War II. Lorraine Ethel McKinney and Lawrence Edmund Glenn were married on May 4, 1945 in Spartanburg, SC, beginning a solid loving partnership interrupted only by Mr. Glenn’s death in June, 1992. After a brief assignment in South Dakota, the young couple settled in Charlotte, NC to start a family. They immediately became members of First Baptist Church, making many lifelong friends. Lorraine was a mother, homemaker, and accomplished seamstress who raised four children that cherish her memory. Following her husband’s death, Lorraine continued to lead an active life in Charlotte until moving to Morganton in 2012. Mrs. Glenn leaves behind her four children, Bill Glenn and wife Gibbie of Chadbourn, NC, Harriette Novak and husband Frank of Morganton, Bruce Glenn of Charlotte, and Esther Bodman and husband Alan of Charlotte. Her four grandchildren hold dear memories of wonderful times spent with “Nanny” that will be forever shared with her eight great grandchildren. Very special nieces, nephews and their children from the Spruce Pine area will never forget weeks spent with Aunt Lorraine and the loving times they shared. The service to honor Mrs. Glenn will be held at Westmoreland Funeral Home in Marion NC at 11:00 am on Thursday, February 18, 2016. Source Citation: Westmoreland Funeral Home
