Bentien, daughter of Henry and Emma (Kuhlman) Bentien, was born January 6, 1917 in Spencer, SD. She grew up in Spencer and graduated from Spencer High School. On March 31, 1937, she married Harold "Manny" Forster in Salem. They farmed in the Spencer-Salem area until 1980, when they retired and moved into Salem. During her lifetime, she enjoyed cooking, gardening, and playing cards. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Salem, the Christian Mothers, and the Friendly Neighbors Extension Club. Her husband died in 1997. She had been a resident of Beverly Healthcare since June of 1998. Survivors include a son, Gerald (Judy) of Lincoln, NE; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Forster of Salem, SD; five grandchildren, Susan (Warren) Olvera, Lisa (Tom) Fischer, Ann (Tom) Braccia, Robert (Amy) Forster, and Douglas (Holly) Forster; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Minnie Bentien of Sioux Falls. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, Ray, and a brother, Harold Bentien.
