Description	:	Lottie B. Henderson, long-time resident of New Salem, passed away at Miller’s Merry Manor on Wednesday, January 6. Lottie was 93. Born in Harrison County, Kentucky, to Harve Highlander and Nona (Moore) Highlander, Lottie grew up with four brothers and three sisters. When Lottie was a teenager, she left Elizabethtown, Kentucky, for Clarksburg, Indiana, to care for her aging grandparents. She later met and married Robert (Bob) Henderson on February 17, 1940. Henderson, long-time resident of New Salem, passed away at Miller’s Merry Manor on Wednesday, January 6. Lottie was 93. Born in Harrison County, Kentucky, to Harve Highlander and Nona (Moore) Highlander, Lottie grew up with four brothers and three sisters. When Lottie was a teenager, she left Elizabethtown, Kentucky, for Clarksburg, Indiana, to care for her aging grandparents. She later met and married Robert (Bob) Henderson on February 17, 1940. The couple had two children Richard Henderson of New Salem and Joyce (Henderson) Angle. Lottie was preceded in death by Robert in August 1985 and Joyce in December 1998. Lottie touched so many lives in the New Salem area. Many knew Lottie’s beautiful handiwork on bridal gowns and formals, expert advise on 4-H projects, and skillful tailoring and alterations. She developed her seamstress skills from her work at The Garment Factory in Greensburg, Indiana. Lottie’s home kitchen was often a hair salon as she gave permanents and haircuts to friends and neighbors. Perhaps her fondest memories come from her working in the cafeteria at New Salem School. She often told stories of co-workers, faculty, and students as she thoroughly enjoyed their company. Lottie’s hobbies included tending an enormous garden and bowling at the Rushville Bowl. Lottie is survived by son Richard Henderson of New Salem, son-in-law William Angle of Richland, granddaughters Jan (Steve) Thoman of Rushville, Kristine (Mike, Jr.) Sasher of Rushville, one brother Harve Highlander, Jr., of Cynthiana, Kentucky, and five great-grandchildren William, Anne and Katie Thoman and Erika and Megann Sasher. Services will be held at Moster Mortuary in Rushville, Indiana, on Saturday, January 9 at 11:00 A.M. Friends are welcome from 9:30 until time of service. Pastor David Stephens will officiate and a private burial will follow at Fisher Cemetery in Richland. Memorial contributions may be made to the New Salem United Methodist Church.
