Kvidera, 84, of 806 Siegel Street, died at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, 1981, in Marshalltown Area Community hospital, where he was admitted earlier in the day. He suffered a stroke 22 years ago and was confined to his home since that time. The Rosary was recited at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday in the Chapel of Mason-Hand Funeral Home, Tama. Mrs. Duane Yilek and Mrs. Rick Beasley were in charge of Mass offerings. The funeral Mass was celebrated at 10:00 o’clock Wednesday morning in St. Patrick’s Catholic church, Tama, with Rev. John W. Stark, the celebrant. Mrs. Janet Malin was organist and accompanied James Mochal, as he sang “How Great Thou Art” and “Nearer May God To Thee.” Burial was in Stayskal cemetery, rural Vining, with the following serving as pallbearers: Darrell Novotny, Duane Yilek, Will Upah, Dana Novotny, Rick Beasley, and Curtis Yilek. Military honors and flag folding ceremony were performed by Reinig-Friedrichs Post No. 72, of the American Legion. Born Feb. 9, 1896, in Otter Creek township, Mr. Kvidera was the son of Louis and Mary Valenta Kvidera. He attended rural schools in the area of his birth. On Sept. 4, 1918, in Toledo, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and received an honorable discharge on Dec. 18, 1918, at Camp Dodge. On Feb. 7, 1921, in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Chelsea, he married Miss Carolyn K. Prusha of Chelsea. The couple farmed in the Toledo area for 27 years and in 1948 moved to Tama. Mr. Kvidera was employed by Custer Implement Co. in Tama, until his health started failing. Mr. Kvidera was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic church, Tama, and a member of Reinig-Friedrichs Post No. 72 of the American Legion, Toledo. He is survived by his wife, a son, Roger L., Tama, a daughter, Margery (Mrs. Leo) Novotny, Garwin, four grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Emma Hala and Miss Blanche Kvidera, both of Toledo. He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters, besides his parents.
