He felt that his children would be better off without him, as they could get help from the county if he were gone, and he could not get employment to help them. It is one of the many sad cases of poverty resulting from the present business stagnation. Jesina's dead body was found a few minutes after the hanging, in the granary. There are nine children in the family, from 1 to 15 years of age. The oldest, a girl, has been earning a small wage, which has been nearly all the income of the family since corn husking, when the father earned $75, but has been unable to collect much of it. The destitute condition of the family did not seem to be realized by neighbors or relatives. Mr. Jesina was born in Bohemia and came here when a boy in 1912. He first worked on farms around Traer and Clutier. In 1918 he was married to Libbie Dvorak, who died some years later, leaving three small children. Later he was married to Jessie Wisner, of Clutier, who had three children, and three more followed the latter union, making nine in all. Of late years the family farmed in the Clutier-Elberon-Vining neighborhoods but lost out and rented buildings on a farm south of Vining, and Mr. Jesina worked as he could find employment. Funeral services were held a t the home at 2 p. m . Tuesday, and a large crowd attended. Burial was in the National Bohemian cemetery. The trustees of that township met Wednesday to consider the care of the children and widow. They will of course be given relief, as all the children are under 18, they will be subject to the widow's pension law, which allows aid for each child. The decedent is a brother of Frank Jesina, seven miles south of Traer. His parents live in Germany. Contributor: George (48419540)
