Description	:	Louis Hilkemeier was born Feb. 23, 1894 on a farm near Bloomfield to William and Kristine Schaufler Hilkemeier. He was baptized and confirmed at the First Trinity Lutheran Church in Bloomfield. On June 5, 1915 he was united in marriage to Blanche Stingley at Creighton. To them were born ten children. They lived on several farms in the Bloomfield and Wausa area before moving to Creighton in 1938. After retiring from the farm, Mr. Hilkemeier worked for the Chicago-Northwestern Railroad and later as a self employed painter. He was baptized and confirmed at the First Trinity Lutheran Church in Bloomfield. On June 5, 1915 he was united in marriage to Blanche Stingley at Creighton. To them were born ten children. They lived on several farms in the Bloomfield and Wausa area before moving to Creighton in 1938. After retiring from the farm, Mr. Hilkemeier worked for the Chicago-Northwestern Railroad and later as a self employed painter. After the death of his wife, Louie entered the Creighton Care Centre, where he made his home since December of 1966. He passed away there on July 30 at the age of 83 years. He is survived by six daughters, Mrs. Elmer (Ruth) Poppe of Bloomfield, Mrs. Harvey (Eloise) Poppe of Crofton, Mrs. Paul (Alyce) Ellinpon of Lincoln, Mrs. Merle (Helen) Hoffart of Plainview, Mrs. Gene (Betty) Cromwell of Yankton, S.D. and Mrs. John (Delores) Tharnish of Lincoln; four sons, Robert of Whitley Surrey, England, Dale of Creighton, Delbert of O'Neill and Donald of Washington, D.C.; one sister, Lula Spies of Plainview and 31 grandchildren and 47 great grandchildren.
