Burial was in David City Cemetery. Louis Vanek, the son of Frank J. and Mary Brabec Vanek, was born in David City on Jan. 9, 1909, and died Feb. 25, 1968, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Columbus. He attended the David City Public Schools and lived in David City his entire life. He was an employee of the Union Pacific Railroad for about 25 years before his retirement. Survivors include two brothers, Frank Vanek of Rising City and Emil Vanek of David City; two sisters, Emma Vanek of Hastings and Mary Ondracek of Schuyler; an aunt, Mrs. Charles Sabata; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
