Description	:	Louis Wynia, 85, of Rock Rapids died Friday, January 25, at the Merrill Pioneer Community Hospital in Rock Rapids. Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Roste Funeral Home, Rock Rapids. Burial was in Memory Gardens Cemetery at Sioux Center. Wynia was born August 19, 1916, at Maurice, the son of Frank and Johanna (Rodenburgh) Wynia. He grew up on the family farm near Maurice and attended school. Read More	Louis Wynia, 85, of Rock Rapids died Friday, January 25, at the Merrill Pioneer Community Hospital in Rock Rapids. Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Roste Funeral Home, Rock Rapids. Burial was in Memory Gardens Cemetery at Sioux Center. Wynia was born August 19, 1916, at Maurice, the son of Frank and Johanna (Rodenburgh) Wynia. He grew up on the family farm near Maurice and attended school. After his education he worked as a farm hand. He married Anna De Vos at Rock Valley on September 18, 1940. The couple farmed near Ireton and in 1954 they moved to a farm southeast of Rock Rapids. They farmed for 50 years, and continued to live on the acreage after they retired. He continued to help his son Frank with spring fieldwork up until the spring of 2000. He loved the land and the duties of a farmer. The couple became residents of Rock Rapids Health Centre on December 31, 2001. Survivors include his wife of 61 years; four children, Frank Wynia and his wife Mary, Curtis Wynia and his wife Sandy and Nellie Van Veldhuisen and her husband Arthur, all of Rock Rapids, and Janice Weets and her husband Dennis of Grandview, Washington; 28 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Martin Wynia and his wife Wilmina of Sioux Center and Melvin Wynia and his wife Arlene of Luverne, Minnesota; and two sisters, Tena and Frances Wynia, both of Sioux Center. He was preceded in death by a son, Corwin; a brother, Cornie; and a great-granddaughter. Sioux Center News 2002-01-30.
