The Shelton family settled in Iowa Territory in 1844, where John J. Shelton became a merchant in Bloomfield, Davis County. Louisa A. Louisa A. Shelton and Joshua Painter were married on 2 July 1859 in Davis County. The couple had two children: • John George Painter • Arminta E. Painter Bryce Joshua Painter died about 1893. Louisa Painter and Andrew A. Roland were married on 28 November 1900 in Bloomfield, Davis County—and granted a divorce in 23 August 1901 in Bloomfield. (He died on 8 February 1904, reportedly aged 90. See: Find a Grave Memorial 199669268.) Louisa A. Painter, formerly Louisa Shelton, and James I. Wilcox were married on 17 November 1904 in Wapello County, Iowa. Both the bride and groom were residents of Bloomfield. J. I. and L. A. Wilcox were enumerated in 1905 in Davis County, Iowa. Louisa Wilcox survived her third husband, who died in 1908. She was enumerated in 1910 living alone in Bloomfield, and died there in 1919 at the age of 77. Notes Louisa Shelton's parents were married on 3 May 1838 in Franklin Co., Missouri. According to the death certificate of "Luisa" Wilcox, she was born on 7 Sep 1842, d/o John Shelton and Nancy Dagget of Tenn. Informant: Minta Brice (daughter). J. J.
