DARLING PASSES AWAY Well Known Resident of the Pomona District Dies at St. Mary’s Hospital; Was ill for a Long Period. The death of Mrs. Lewis Darling, a resident of Pomona precinct for the past 12 years, occurred at St. Mary’s hospital, following an operation performed early this week in the hopes of saving her life. Mrs. Darling had been ailing for several months and was finally taken to the hospital for treatment. With her husband and grown son, David, Mrs. Darling came to the valley from Iowa, where she was born and raised. She was a highly respected member of the community in which she lived and was a member of the Presbyterian church of Grand Junction. Mrs. Darling was 63 years of age and is survived by her husband and four children. David E. with whom she has made her home for many years, Mrs. Ruth Shultz of Lansing Michigan, Arthur of Casper, Wyo., and Charles of Stamfort , S. D. No arrangements have been made for the funeral services pending word from the absent children. Published in the Grand Junction Daily Sentinel May 23, 1922 Monday afternoon at 2:30, at Martin’s Funeral Home, occurred the funeral services over the body of the late Mrs. Louisa Darling, a resident of the Pomona district, who passed away late last week. The funeral oration was delivered by the Rev. Mast, pastor of the Presbyterian church, and burial was made later in the Odd Fellows cemetery. The service was attended by many residents of the Pomona district.
