Description	:	Highland Recorder January 6, 1928 Mrs. Elijah Key, one of the aged residents of Highland, died Wednesday morning at her home two miles north of Monterey, death following a long period of declining health. Mrs. Key was 79 years of age. Before marriage she was a Miss Halterman, daughter of the late Peter Halterman, and was twice married. Read More	Highland Recorder January 6, 1928 Mrs. Elijah Key, one of the aged residents of Highland, died Wednesday morning at her home two miles north of Monterey, death following a long period of declining health. Mrs. Key was 79 years of age. Before marriage she was a Miss Halterman, daughter of the late Peter Halterman, and was twice married. Her first husband was James K, Gum, and five children born to this union survive the mother: They are W. E. Gum of Staunton, Charles and Robert Gum, who reside north of Monterey, and two daughters Mrs Jno. Hevener of this community, and Mrs. William Simmons of Forks of Waters. Mrs. Key was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church, and her funeral took place at Asbury Chapel this morning at eleven o’clock. Interment was in the Puffenbarger burying ground. Services conducted by her pastor, Rev. R. M. Clutter. Highland Recorder June 1, 1923 Mrs. Elijah Key, who lives two miles north of town, had a narrow escape last week when her family driving horse -old and hitherto dependable—ran off with a buggy in which she and two little grand-children were riding, completely demolishing the vehicle, stripping off the harness and making a clean “get-away”. All escaped serious injury. Although the aged lady had one limb bruised and sprained.
