Description	:	Highland Recorder April 16, 1943 Mrs Sarah Simmons, 79, widow of the late John D. Simmons, died Thursday morning, April 1, at the home of her son, A.L. Puffenbarger in Crabbottom. While in failing health for a number of years, she was confined to her bed only about two weeks following a stroke of apoplexy. She was a daughter of the late Peter Halterman and Peggy White Halterman and was the last member of her immediate family. She was twice married, first to Christian L. Simmons, died Thursday morning, April 1, at the home of her son, A.L. Puffenbarger in Crabbottom. While in failing health for a number of years, she was confined to her bed only about two weeks following a stroke of apoplexy. She was a daughter of the late Peter Halterman and Peggy White Halterman and was the last member of her immediate family. She was twice married, first to Christian L. Puffenbarger who preceded her in death more than thirty years ago. To this union was born ten children four of whom survive; A.L. Puffenbarger with whom she made her home, Mrs Walter Arbogast, Miss Stella Puffenbarger, all of Crabbottom, and Mrs. H.H. Rexrode of Churchville. Also surviving are thirteen grand-children, three great-grand children, and a number of nieces and nephews. She was a member of Union Chapel Methodist Church. Funeral services were held at the Forks of Water church Sunday afternoon, April 4, at two o’clock conducted by her pastor, Rev. H.E. Skelton, assisted by the Rev. Eugene Rawley. Interment was in the Puffenbarger cemetery near where, many years of her life were spent. Highland Recorder March 28, 1919 Isaac Simmons, of Crabbottom, has bought the life interest of Mrs. John D. Simmons, and Mrs. Simmons has purchased the George Swecker farm. Mr. Swecker will probably leave Highland this spring.
