Description	:	Louisa Leikity Burgess was born July 1, 1860 in Allamakee County, Iowa. She made profession of faith in Jesus Christ at the age of sixteen years and united with the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She was married to Charlie Hoag when seventeen years of age, one son was born to this union. When nineteen years of age she moved to Republic County, Kansas. Read More	Louisa Leikity Burgess was born July 1, 1860 in Allamakee County, Iowa. She made profession of faith in Jesus Christ at the age of sixteen years and united with the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She was married to Charlie Hoag when seventeen years of age, one son was born to this union. When nineteen years of age she moved to Republic County, Kansas. On February 27, 1887, she was married to Dayton L. Patton and they were blest with two sons and one daughter. Mrs. Patton is survived by her husband, D.L. Patton, a son, Roy Hoag, a daughter, Mrs. Pearl Herman, a brother, Dan Burgess, and a sister, Mrs. E. Flick. She was a member of the Euclid Heights Presbyterian Church for fifteen years and was very faithful upon its services. Even during the years of her invalidism, when it meant pain and suffering to come, she came as often as her strength would permit. For many years, she served in church giving faithful service as a teacher in the Sunday School. Mrs. Patton with her family has lived for sixteen years in Los Angeles. During these years, she has gained a wide circle of friends. A large number of these were present to honor her memory at the funeral services which were held in the Euclid Heights Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, June 7th, by the Reverend Frank M. Cross, pastor. Many beautiful floral pieces were sent by her friends as a mark of their love and respect. The interment took place in the Odd Fellows Cemetery in the family lot, where her son and son-in-law Mr. Herman are buried. Her life was one which was filled with usefulness and service, and throughout her long illness her faith in God remained unshaken. She was not afraid when the call of death came and quietly and peacefully she fell asleep. Her life was a benediction to all who knew her, and in death her gracious memory still lives on.
