Description	:	BIOGRAPHY: Lovey (Carey) Huff was born in Indiana, Feb. 15, 1845. When early in childhood she came with her parents to Davis County, Iowa and spent her entire live near ASH GROVE,,IOWA. She taught in the public schools and was later joined in the bonds of wedlockto James N. Huff, on Jan. 3, 1867. To their union 7 children were born: Charles Whitfield, David Carey, Francis Albert, Thomas Aquilla, Ruby Jennie, Alvah Dick and Mary Alice. The husband and three sons have preceded her in death. When early in childhood she came with her parents to Davis County, Iowa and spent her entire live near ASH GROVE,,IOWA. She taught in the public schools and was later joined in the bonds of wedlockto James N. Huff, on Jan. 3, 1867. To their union 7 children were born: Charles Whitfield, David Carey, Francis Albert, Thomas Aquilla, Ruby Jennie, Alvah Dick and Mary Alice. The husband and three sons have preceded her in death. She was a daughter of the Reverend and Mrs. Jonathan Caey. She was always kind and shared all, in raising her family. She always helped those who were in need when asked to do so. Her death occurred at the home of her daughter, Mrs. A.V. Garrison, Ottumwa,[Wapello] Iowa on Sept. 8, 1928, aged 83 years, 6 months and 23 days. Those who survive her are Thomas A. of Bloomfield, Alvah of Oregon,[Holt] Missouri, Jennie of Ottumwa, Mae of Akron [Washington] Colorado, 32 grandchildren and a host of friends. Also three brothers: Sam Carey of Ong [Clay] Nebraska; Josh Carey of Valley Center [Sedgwick] Kansas, and Luther Carey of Noel [McDonald] Missouri. Five sisters: Mrs. Malinda Miller of Blakesburg [Wapello] Iowa, Mrs. Sarah Smith of Blakesburg, Wapello, Iowa,Mrs. margaret Overturf of Ong,Clay, Nebraska, Mrs. Anna Wagner of Central City,[Merrick] Nebraska and Mrs. Lydia Thomas of Hedrick [Keokuk] Iowa. The angel of death has descended and borne aloft another spirit. So gently and tenderly did he lift and fold her in his merciful arms, so quietly was the call to enter the portals of the eternal city. Her's was that of a queenly spirit with love and charity for all. Her lineage was that of a house rich in the experience of Christ and the church. We who knew best the purity and intensifying power of her youthful angel spirit, could not but grieve as we saw slowly but surely the scyths of time with its unmerciful hand sweeping along, bringing to a swift close an eventful life. She knew no enemies. Could one imagine the ocean raving at a drop, a star envious of a candle, the sun jealous of a firefly. She who now sleeps in the windowless palace of rest, had passed life's more than four score years, became weary for the moment, lay down by the wayside and using a burden for a pillow fell into that dreamless sleep that kisses down her eyelids still.Mother passes to silence and pathetic dust, for whether in mid sea or among the breakers of the farther shore, a wreack must mark at last the end of each and all. This brave and tender woman in every storm of life was oak and rock, but in the sunshine she was love and flowers. We cry aloud and the only answer is the echo of a wailing cry. From the voiceless lips of the unreplying dead there comesno word, but in the night of the death, hope sees a star, and listening, love can hear the rustle of a wing. In her early years she became a member of the methodist Episcopal Church and remained faithful to the last. Parting services were held at the home of her daughter, Mrs. A.V. Garrison, 729 Wabash Avenue, Ottumwa, Iowa, with the funeral conducted at Wesley Chapel at 2:30 P.M. Monday, Sept. 10. The services were conducted by her former pastor, Reverend W.H. Slack, Libertyville, Iowa. Sweeter the name of Mother, she was always so dear to us, and hope we'll always be wearer, to feel that loving touch, of the hands we loved so well. Also, of her kind advice, that she was always glad to tell. Whose love can equal the love of a Mother. Whose the devotion so loyal and true. Who sufers so much with such joy for another.
