She was born Louise Augusta Hillmann, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gustav Hillmann on August 11, 1879 in Selchoff, Germany. She came to the United States with her parents in 1900 and settled near Gary, South Dakota. She worked at the South Dakota School for the Blind at Gary, South Dakota.... She was born Louise Augusta Hillmann, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gustav Hillmann on August 11, 1879 in Selchoff, Germany. She came to the United States with her parents in 1900 and settled near Gary, South Dakota. She worked at the South Dakota School for the Blind at Gary, South Dakota. She was united in marriage to Edward Maass on June 4, 1903 in Lac Qui Parle County, Minnesota. After their marriage she moved with her husband to the Huron, South Dakota area where he was a section hand with the railroad. Later they returned to the Revillo-Albee area where they lived for many years. After her husband's death in 1945 she moved to the Altamont community where she lived until entering the Good Samaritan Center in Clear Lake, South Dakota in July of 1967. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in Germany and she was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Clear Lake, South Dakota. She is survived by three sons, Walter of Lakewood, California and Arthur and Elmer, Both of Revillo, South Dakota; five daughters, Mrs. Einar (Mary) Sorenson of Flandreau, South Dakota, and Mrs. Edna Ingalls, Mrs. Louis (Mildred) Dumke, Mrs. Mabel Wieber and Mrs. Clarence (Sylvia) Hartsel, all of Clear Lake, South Dakota; 31 grandchildren; 82 great grandchildren and 12 great great grandchildren. Also surviving is one sister, Mrs. Marie Goetsch of Clear Lake, South Dakota. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three daughters, one son, three grandchildren, one great grandchild, three brothers and two sisters.
