Mrs. Ford was born in Rome, Ga. on November 5, 1921, the daughter of the late Roger LeHew Coe and Evelyn "Evie" Shands Coe. She was a graduate of University High School in Columbia and Limestone College in Gaffney. Mrs. Ford taught at Bynum Elementary School for a time and retired from the S. C. Dept. of Social Services. She was the widow of Albert W. "Sonny" Ford, Jr. Mrs. Ford was a member of Georgetown Presbyterian Church and an Honorary Life Member of the Presbyterian Women. She was also a former Sunday School Teacher and a member of the Leila Marvin Circle. Mrs. Ford was a founding member of the Prince George Garden Club and a member of Winyah Chapter #3-064, Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a former member of the City of Georgetown Architectural Review Board and a former Girl Scout Leader. Surviving are: two daughters, Louise "Lucy" McClary and her husband Herbie and Anne Tamsberg and her husband Jody, all of Georgetown; a son, Albert Ford, III and his wife Lisa of Georgetown; six grandchildren, Roger McClary and his wife Ann-Margaret of Spartanburg, Will McClary and his wife Beth of Rock Hill, Joel Tamsberg, Elizabeth Ford, and Katie Ford, all of Georgetown, and Christopher Tamsberg of Clemson; two great-grandchildren, Lauren McClary of Spartanburg and Ford McClary of Rock Hill; and a cousin, Jane France and her husband Norris of Greenville. Funeral services will be eleven o'clock Tuesday morning, December 2, 2003, at Georgetown Presbyterian Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Dr. J. Ben Sloan. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the residence Monday evening, December 1, 2003, from five until seven. The family suggests memorials to Georgetown Presbyterian Church, 558 Black River Rd., Georgetown, S. C. 29440 or Tidelands Community Hospice, 2591 N. Fraser St., Georgetown, S. C. 29440. The Georgetown Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
