Description	:	Louise Eleanor Hanna Pugh, 84, died May 5, 2010, in Sioux Falls, S.D. She was born Aug. 7, 1925, in Boston, Mass. The third of 10 children, and the first girl, she was spoiled by her brothers and grew up to be a loving nurturer. During World War II, she served her country building radio tubes at Raytheon. She was born Aug. 7, 1925, in Boston, Mass. The third of 10 children, and the first girl, she was spoiled by her brothers and grew up to be a loving nurturer. During World War II, she served her country building radio tubes at Raytheon. She always wanted to marry a cowboy, and she met Edwin Pugh while he was on leave from the Navy in the South Pacific. They were married March 30, 1946, and she soon moved west and began her adventure as a rancher's wife. She went from having running water and flush toilets to having to haul water and hope she would be first to bathe in the wash tub. She persevered through dust storms, famine and an outbreak of polio. She nursed her husband back to health from a polio attack and took care of her daughter Sandy as she struggled with lupus in 1987. Family meant everything to her. Holidays were a big event and every birthday was celebrated with one of her homemade cakes. Mrs. Pugh loved the Colorado mountains, playing piano, listening to music, visiting with her children, spending time with her grandchildren, and early road trips in the bus her husband converted to a camper. She enjoyed telling children about Jesus and taught Sunday school and vacation Bible school more than 60 years. She and her husband went on many missionary trips building churches and teaching. She enjoyed women's Bible studies and treasured the friendships she made at Calvary Baptist Church. Mrs. Pugh was preceded in death by daughters Sandra Jean and Juanita Louise, grandson Robert, and brothers Harold and Buddy. Survivors include her husband; children, Robert of Boston, Mass., Leslie (Sandy) of Salida, Jerry of San Diego, Calif., Annette of Salida and DeeDee (Gary Wood) of Yankton, S.D.; grandchildren, Elijah, Rachel, Jody, Michelle, Annette, Leslie, Christopher and Vanessa; great-grandchildren; and siblings, Herbie, Phyllis, Alice, Ruth, Betty, Leslie and Jimmy. Viewing was from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. May 10, 2010, at Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Home and Crematory in Yankton, S.D. Services were at 10:30 a.m. May 11, 2010, at Calvary Baptist Church in Yankton.
