Description	:	Funeral services were held from the St. John Lutheran Church in Culbertson for Mrs. Louise Groothuis, wife of Andrew T. Groothuis of Trenton, who passed away at the St. Catherine's hospital on Sunday, October 8th. Mrs. Groothuis was taken to the hospital on Sunday, October 1, where an emergency operation was performed. After the operation, her condition became better during the week, but worsened on Sunday morning and she passed away at noon. She had been a resident of this county nearly all of her life, having come here with her parents from Colorado as an infant. Singers were Beverly Rathe and Judy Schlager, accompanied by Susan Smith at the organ. Serving as casket bearers were Walter Zapp, Alvere Frecks, Donald Meints, Henry Stecker, Andrew A. Groothuis, and Eugene Schaffert. Interment was in the Trenton Cemetery with the Herrmann-Fritsch Funeral Home in charge of the service. *** Louise F. Groothuis was born July 9, 1903 to William F. and Augusta Schmale in Yuma, Colorado. As an infant she came to Hitchcock County, Nebraska with her parents where she made her home on a farm southeast of Trenton until her death October 8, 1961 at St. Catherine Hospital in McCook, Nebraska after a brief illness. She was baptized May 19, 1913 and confirmed on November 26 1922 in St. John Lutheran Church at Culbertson, Nebraska. She was graduated from Trenton High School in 1920. On January 24, 1928 she was joined in marriage to Andrew T. Groothuis, and this union was blessed with six sons. She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, Andrew T.; her mother, Augusta Schmale; sons, Elmer L. of Lincoln, Nebraska; Stanley E. of Oak Ridge, Tennessee; Wilbert A. of Falls City, Nebraska; Harlan D. of Central City, Nebraska; Ivan L. and Irvan A. of Trenton; three granddaughters and four grandsons; sisters, Mrs. Lloyd Riley of Trenton and Mrs. Wm.
