Description	:	Lowell Gene Behrendsen, 63, of Otis died Thursday. Behrendsen was born May 19, 1941, to Louie H. and Margaret E. (Heltenberg) Behrendsen on a farm east of Yuma. He attended Hyde Elementary School and spent a short time at Otis High School. He married Claudia Ann Shaw Dec. 5, 1962. During their early years of marriage they lived in Fort Morgan. He remained in Otis... Read More	Lowell Gene Behrendsen, 63, of Otis died Thursday. Behrendsen was born May 19, 1941, to Louie H. and Margaret E. (Heltenberg) Behrendsen on a farm east of Yuma. He attended Hyde Elementary School and spent a short time at Otis High School. He married Claudia Ann Shaw Dec. 5, 1962. During their early years of marriage they lived in Fort Morgan. In 1971, they purchased a home in Otis. He worked for Burlington Northern Railroad until his retirement in the early 1990s. In 1979 his youngest daughter, Melanie, died, and in 1986 he lost his wife. He remained in Otis and later remarried. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gambling, traveling and being around friends and family, and he enjoyed his retirement. He is survived by his daughter, Angela Faith Behrendsen Lopez of Lincoln, Neb.; three sisters, Barbara Procunier of Fort Morgan, Irene Luster and Ruth Allmer, both of Greeley; one brother, Dick Behrendsen of Anton, and one grandson. Behrendsen was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Claudia Ann; his brother, Henry, and daughter, Melanie Gwyn. Memorial gifts may be made to the family. Graveside memorial services and inurnment were to be held today at 10 a.m. at the Otis Cemetery. Brenner Funeral Home of Akron is in charge of the arrangements. Fort Morgan Times November 3, 2004
