Hart, 76, of 630 6th St., Bettendorf, died Sunday morning, Oct. 26, 2003, at his home. Lowell's life will be celebrated at 11 a.m. today at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 305 E. Elm St., Rockwell, Iowa, with the Rev. Craig E. Steimel officiating. Lowell Lee Hart entered the world on Nov. 26, 1926, in Waterloo, Iow, the only child born to Lee W. and Ena (Harden) Hart. He attended and graduated from Iowa Falls High School in 1945. Following high School, Lowell graduated from Ellsworth Community College, Iowa Falls, and later from Palmer Chiropractic College, Davenport. Lowell was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy in June 1946. He had achieved the rank of Signalman Third Class after serving his country during World War II. Lowell met his future wife, Geraldine Ann Fitzgerald, on a blind date and the two of them enjoyed their first evening together dancing at the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake, Iowa. They married on Nov. 17, 1951, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Rockwell. After 37 years of employment with Alcoa in Riverside, Iowa, Lowell retired in 1989. He was the executive head of the Customer's Inquiry Department. In the 1980s, Lowell was an engineer consultant in regards to the crafting of the Space Shuttle. Some of Lowell's favorite leisure activities and interests included his love of the outdoors, hunting pheasant, playing golf and fishing in Canada. Lowell had a fascination with purchasing and detailing cars. He had a special fondness for his 1989 black Chrysler New Yorker. Lowell treasured special memories of great vacations and traveling with his family. Spending time with his wife and children was precious to Lowell, and they claim that he was meticulous in regards to his yard, garden and home. He was blessed with a great sense of humor, extremely generous, very honest and a private family man. Lowell will be missed dearly by his family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife, Geraldine, of Bettendorf; his daughter, Mary Kim Hart, of Wauwatosa, Wis.; and his sons, Thomas Lee Hart, and his wife, Karen, of Lowden, Iowa, and Randon Carey Hart, and his wife, Julie, of Calamus, Iowa. He was a nurturing grandfather of 11 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Preceding Lowell in death were her parents, Lee and Ena Hart. Fullerton Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Rockwell, is in charge of arrangements.
