Funeral services were held 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 6, 2006, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Battle Creek, Iowa, under the direction of Christensen-Huffman Funeral Homes. Born August 1, 1937, in Battle Creek, Iowa, Lowell Walter Albers was the son of Walter "Bob" and Florence (Rehse) Albers. Lowell was baptized on August 28, 1937, and confirmed on April 22, 1951, at St. Paul Lutheran Church (Midway) in rural Battle Creek. He attended school in Battle Creek, graduating from Battle Creek High School in 1955, then served in the United States Army in Alaska. On February 4, 1961, Lowell was united in marriage to Ethel Borchers at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ida Grove, Iowa. The couple farmed in the Battle Creek and Holstein areas for many years. Lowell also worked at Goodburn Construction for several years. Lowell was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Battle Creek, and was a FSA board member for many years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his three grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Ethel; two children, Tammy Rawson and husband Lonnie of Sioux City, and Jim Albers of Cushing; three grandchildren, Jennifer, Bradley, and Richie Rawson; a brother and his wife, Larry and Janice Albers of Battle Creek; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. Lowell was preceded in death by an infant son, Edward; his parents; and a sister, Marlene Riessen
